The premise is familiar, almost comfortably so: The Talented Mr. Ripley meets The White Lotus.
Adam (Jack Whitehall), a charming, classics-quoting “manny,” infiltrates the life of the ultra-wealthy Tanner family, led by the boorish, venture-capitalist patriarch Jamie (David Duchovny).
Malice is a show that is moreish and bingeable. It is a high-gloss, low-nuance revenge fantasy that feeds the current cultural appetite for “eat the rich” narratives.
If you are looking for the next great work of television art, you may be disappointed.
But if you are looking for a show that is perfectly content to be a six-hour vacation into the world of beautiful people behaving badly, and the man who is determined to make them pay, then Malice is your ticket.
It is a show that is, in the end, exactly what it needs to be: a deliciously unsubtle piece of escapism that will happily take you through to Christmas.
Go enjoy!
